Summer 2012

The summer fun will soon be over and it seems as though it just began.  These pictures were from the numerous trips that the grandchildren made to Hilton Head our first summer there.  Abi will soon be 3 and has become quite the swimmer this year.  Logan almost 2 and 1/2  has  perfected his batting stance.  Connor at 4 months is happy playing his role as the newest family addition.  If you've never met them, these are three very special children.

"Let Summer Time Begin"

Since attending the Easter Sunrise Service on the beach, we've made all the preparations and all systems are go for the summer fun to begin.  We've gotten our grill assembled, delivered, and tested.  We've assembled and tested our beach cart and Pop Pop has completed building the customized GBT (Grandchild Beach Transporter).  Logan has had his second birthday party.  Abi, now at 2 1/2, is busy helping Mommy.  Connor is getting stronger everyday as he puts on the pounds and bulks up.  He is now 5 weeks old.

Connor - Born March 23, 2012

At 8:13 am, Connor was welcomed into our world by a large group of family members including "Biiiig Sister"Abi and  four Great Grandparents.
Our family was truly blessed with this 7 lb. 7 oz. healthy baby boy.  Abi let us know how special she felt when Connor wrapped his tiny hand around one of her fingers.  With a big surprised smile Abi said "He's holding my hand!"

Welcome Connor!

Ship Collides "In our Backyard"

On the night of Jan. 26th, 2012 a 300 foot section of the US 68 bridge over Kentucky Lake was demolished.  US 68 is the main East-West Route through the "Land Between the Lakes."
Kenlake Marina, located on the western bank, just below this bridge was our home during Aug. and Sept. 2009.  We traveled across this bridge numerous times as well as making several passages up and down the lake on Play Dough while in the area.
The bridge was struck by the "Delta Mariner", a 312 foot cargo ship.  This ship routinely carries rocket sections from Huntsville, AL to the NASA facility on Florida's coast.  It appears that the collision was due to the ship passing through the bridge section immediately to the right of the taller center span.

"The 31 Days of Christmas"

Our family celebrated Christmas and New Year's over a 31 day period this year.  The events started early in Dec. with a combination Christmas and Great Grandmama Betty's 80th birthday celebration.  The next several weeks were filled with parties and get-togethers, drive-thru Nativity Scenes, Christmas Cantatas at church and "Lights of the South".   Abi and Logan visited our home and we visited each of theirs.  The holidays culminated with an eight day visit to Hilton Head to ring in the New Year.
Logan now at 20 months and Abi just over 2 years were much more attentive to the events of the season, which thoroughly kept all the adults entertained!  Oh to be that age!!

Happy 80th!!

Abi and Logan Exploring Hilton Head

Abi and Logan just spent the weekend exploring their new home away from home.  This was the first of many trips that should be great memory builders for them.  They had lots of fun chasing each other throughout the condo, using the king size bed for a trampoline, rolling in the grass, hiding in the shrubs, horseback riding and walking on the beach.  Abi could not understand why she was not allowed to swim in the pool or ocean.  They should really enjoy the warmer months.
"Obi and Lo",  as they call each other, will add a third member to their group in March.  Abi is expecting the arrival of a baby brother!
